PURPOSE :
To test the strength of boilers and fittings
FMA reg. 72
Each of the following boilers must do an HT test:
1. A new boiler is used
2. After the boiler repair. (eg. Repair crack by welding)
3. Not more than 7 years
4. Boilers that cannot be checked inside are small
(no access)
5. Design-modified boiler. To determine the original ASWP
TERMS: 2 x ASWP (for pressurized boilers <100 psi)
1.5 x ASWP + 50 psi (for pressurized boilers > 100 psi)
EXAMPLE: ASWP 10 bar pressure boiler
EXAM : (1.5 x 10 bar) + 3.4 bar = 18.4 bar (maximum)
* 1 bar = 14.72 psi, 3.4 bar = 50 psi
Steps HT
1. Cover and blind each flange and measuring instrument
2. Gag or blind Safety valves
3. Fill water into the boiler and s / htr until full
(water goes out to the vent line) – water temperature> = amb. Temp.
4. Close the vent valve
5. Continue the water pump into the boiler using
high pressure pump
6. Increase boiler pressure in a rating
7. Check if there is a leak
8. If there is a leak in the middle of the exam,
release pressure and tighten where the leak is
9. Continue the test after the leak is overcome
10. In 1.5% ASWPs should last for 20
Minit and there isn’t any leak
11. Then lower the pressure in a ranking
