PT INDIRA DWI MITRA-Winsketel Steam Boiler
Boiler or Winsketel Steam boiler is a closed vessel that can convert water into steam with a pressure greater than 1 coal or atmosphere, by heating the fresh water inside the boiler by utilizing hot gases from the combustion of fuel and hot gas from Exaush main engine.Large motorboats generally have boilers or auxiliary boilers. The function of the boiler or boiler is for heating on the ship, such as space heating, kitchen, fuel. and to move auxiliary aircraft.
Boilers or boilers of this type are generally other than sealed with fuel oil. usually also combined with utilizing heat from the exhaust gas coming out of the main engine (M / E) exaush oiler or boiler is an auxiliary machinery on board that serves to convert water into steam (steam). Boiler ship is part of the equipment used to help the work of the main driving machine.

Boiler functions on board
The steam produced by the boiler is superheat steam with high pressure and temperature. The amount of steam production depends on the surface area of the heat transfer, the flow rate, and the heat of combustion given. Boilers whose construction consists of pipes filled with water are called water tube boilers. This high-pressure, high-pressure steam produced by the boiler is used to heat the fuel so that its viscosity changes, and it is also used to heat the jecketcoling, and many more uses of steam on board.
A boiler or boiler on board must meet producing steam or steam with the following requirements:
Must be able to produce steam with a certain weight and pressure greater than 1bar or 1 atmosphere in a certain time
Steam must be able to be formed with the lowest possible amount of fuel Must produce steam or steam with very little water content. Steam or steam temperatures should not change much and should be easily regulated, if used for advanced heating.
Steam steam must not change very much, during motion or maneuvering.
The arrangement of the fuel packaging must be designed so that the fuel can be burned completely. that is by heating the water inside the pipes by utilizing the heat from burning fuel. Combustion is carried out automatically by the boiler system and continuously in the combustion chamber by flowing fuel and air from outside, or usually also utilizing heat from the main engine exhaust gas exhaus. water in the cascade tank is pumped into the boiler using a feed pump. Then the feed water enters the kettle but is given chemichal according to the specified dose. after the water in the boiler reaches the specified batch then the burning process burns. After that, the water warms up inside the boiler, and changes phase to pressurized steam and is ready to be distributed.
After the steam is distributed to each auxiliary machinery, the steam will enter the condensate and then the phase is
changed to water.read: types of machining aids on ships

Boiler Working Principle
after the steam becomes water then it is forwarded to the cascade tank to be pumped back into the boiler.
in water pipe boilers, water is inside the pipe while hot gas is outside the pipe. This water pipe boiler can operate on
very high stem pressures which are more than 100bar.This boiler has the characteristics of producing high steam pressure. the ignition process occurs outside the pipe, then the heat generated heats the pipe containing water and before that the water is conditioned first through an economizer, then the steam produced is collected first in a steam-drum. Until the pressure and temperature match, through the secondary superheater and the new primary superheater, steam is released into the main distribution pipe. In a water pipe, running water must be conditioned to minerals or other contents that are dissolved in the water. This is
the main factor that must be considered for this type
Types of Boilers are based on pipe types
1 Water tube boilers
2 fire tube boilers
advantages of water tube boilers
1 operating pressure reaches 100bar
2 Steam capacity is relatively greater reaching 450 TPH
3 has a higher efficiency than the fire tube
4 it’s easier to inspect, clean and repair the furnace
loss of water tube boilers
1 initial investment is relatively more expensive
2 boiler water tube construction is more detailed construction
Fire pipe boilers, fire is inside the pipe, while water is outside the pipe, the type of fire pipe boiler has the characteristic
of producing low steam capacity and pressure.
How it works: the ignition process occurs in the pipe, then the heat generated is delivered directly into a boiler filled
with water. The size and construction of the boiler affect the capacity and pressure generated by the boiler.
As we know the ship has a room that is not too large and therefore, the boiler construction on the ship must be designed
so that it does not spend much space on the ship. To achieve this, the construction of the boiler is made with the
arrangement of pipes that separate water and hot gases that heat the water, the following is the construction of the boiler
on board
Horizontal is made with horizontal boiler construction examples in the B&W boiler section
Vertical construction of this boiler is made to stand for example on the Foster Wheeler boiler
The slant is made with an oblique construction to fit inside the engine room of the B & W Integral boiler
example
the handling of water entering the boiler system is more sensitive, so it needs to be
maintained and required supporting components for this
3
4 requires a large area for construction, because it is able to produce greater steam pressure.
Fire Tube
advantages of fire tube boilers
1 the initial investment for a fire pipe boiler is relatively less expensive
2 the shape is more compact and portable
3 no need special settings
4 the installation process is easy and fast
5 for 1 HP boilere doesn’t need a large area
Fire Tube Boiler Losses
1 where the burners are hard to reach, so it’s hard to clean
2 pressure operation stem is limited to low pressure 18Bars.
3 relatively smaller stem capacity (13.5 TPH)
4 a lot of heat energy is wasted directly on the stack so the efficiency value is low.
Boiler construction on board
Furnace (Furnace) This section is a place of combustion of fuel which will become a source of heat, the process of receiving heat by water media is carried out through pipes that have been flowed with water, the pipe sticks to the furnace walls.
Steam Drum Steam drum serves as a reservoir of hot water and where steam is formed. This drum holds saturated steam along with water with a ratio between 50% water and 50% steam. to avoid water being carried away by vapor, it is fitted with barriers, water that has a low temperature will go down and high temperature water will go up and then evaporate Superheater Is a place for drying steam, because the steam coming from the steam drum is still wet and cannot be used. The continued heating process uses a superheater pipe that is heated to a temperature of 260 ° C to 350 ° C. With this temperature, steam will become dry and can be used to drive turbines and other equipment.
Air Heater This component is a device that functions to heat the air used to blow / blow fuel so it can burn completely. The air that will be exhaled, before passing through the air heater has the same temperature as the normal air temperature (outside temperature) which is 38 ° C. However, after going through the air heater, the air temperature will increase to 230 ° C so that it can be used to remove the water content contained therein because water vapor can disrupt the combustion process.
Dust Collector (Ash Collector) This section serves to capture or collect ash that is in the flow of combustion to dust that is included in the exhaust gas. The advantage of using this tool is the combustion gases which are discharged into the air free from dust content. The reason is because the dust can pollute the air in the surrounding environment, and aims to reduce the possibility of damage to the tool due to the friction of ash and sand.
The Regulator of Exhaust Gas from the combustion chamber is inhaled by an IDF (Induced Draft Fan) blower through a dust collector which will then be discharged through the chimney. The smoke gas regulator damper is adjusted first as needed before the IDF is ignited, because the larger the damper is opened, the greater the suction that will occur from the furnace.
Safety Valve This tool serves to dispose of steam when the steam pressure exceeds a predetermined limit.
This valve consists of two types, namely the wet steam safety valve and the dry steam safety valve. This safety valve can be adjusted according to the specified maximum aspects. In the wet steam is usually set at a pressure of 21 kg per cm squared, while for the safety valve dry steam is set at a pressure of 20.5 kg per cm squared.
Measuring Glass (Sight Glass) Measuring cup mounted on the top of the drum that serves to determine the height of the water in the drum. The aim is to facilitate controlling the water level in the boiler while the boiler is operating. These estimating glasses must be washed periodically to avoid clogging which makes the water level unreadable.
Boiler Water Disposal This boiler component functions to dispose of water in the upper drum. Disposal of water is carried out if there are substances that cannot be dissolved, for example simply the emergence of foam which can interfere with observations of the estimating glass. To remove water from the drum, ablowdown valve is installed on the top drum, this valve works if the amount of foam has passed the specified limit.
The main part of the boiler
Boiler operation
1 Open the blowdown / drain valve, every 15 or so seconds 2 or 3 times. Check the height of the water in the gauge glass / gauge glass (gauge glass) and should remain in half position.
3 Turn on the burner / fire.
4 After the fire is on, open the dumper as many as ¼ open. Slowly increase the steam pressure to the working pressure point. Always check that the water level in the gauge glass does not exceed the limit. If the height is above the limit (1/2 of the gauge glass) then close the feedwater valve. If it does not solve the problem or the water
remains high then open the blowdown valve.
6 Check that the incoming fuel is evenly distributed.
If no steam is monitored on the boiler manometer, the fuel must be reduced so that heat can be evenly distributed throughout the boiler. Turn off the fan until the pressure appears. The time needed depends on the temperature in the boiler.
The boiler requires 6 hours for the cooling process to be turned off by blowing air through the fan by opening the dumper ¼ open until pressure is visible on the manometer.
9 If the boiler is cold, it takes about 8 hours for ignition without a fan. Never miss our latest news, subscribe here for free
